The Village League is a fifteen-a-side competition contested by all fourteen village clubs in a single division. Each club plays six round-robin games, and every result counts toward the league ladder. The final ladder then seeds the finals series, which splits into Cup, Plate and Bowl brackets, decided on finals day in late October.

Clubs earn competition points from every match. The ladder is ranked on total points, then points differential, then tries scored.

The ladder is decided on total competition points (no bonus points). Where clubs are level, position is decided by points differential, then by points scored, in line with the union's regulations.
Village Sevens is the fast, festival format of village rugby. The clubs gather for a tournament of seven-a-side rugby, pool play seeding the knockout rounds and the Cup, Plate and Bowl finals, all in the one day of flair, pace and silverware.
Clubs are drawn into tournament pools and play short matches to seed the finals rounds.
Pool results feed the Cup, Plate and Bowl brackets, so every club plays for silverware on the day.

Players register through Rugby Xplorer, New Zealand Rugby's official registration system. Once registered to your village club you are eligible to take the field, covered by insurance and recorded in the official competition.
All players, coaches and team officials register and renew each season through Rugby Xplorer. Find your village club, complete your registration, and you are set for the season.
Juniors are registered with parental consent through the same system. Player welfare and safeguarding are managed under the union's policies.
