About the Union
The Auckland Samoa Rugby Football Union has carried Samoan village rugby in South Auckland for close to 30 years. Based in Otara, the union brings 14 village teams together each season, mana first, on and off the field.
Tautua mo SāmoaFor close to 30 years the Auckland Samoa Rugby Football Union has been the home of Samoan village rugby in Auckland. From its base in Otara, South Auckland, the union has grown into a league of 14 village teams, each one carrying the name, the colours and the pride of its village back in Sāmoa.
This is more than a competition. Every fixture is a gathering of aiga and community. Families travel to support their village, elders pass on the game to the next generation, and young players learn that to wear the village jersey is to carry a responsibility to the people standing behind them.
The union runs the league with one principle at its centre: mana first. We protect the dignity of the players, the referees and the villages they represent. The rugby is fierce, but the respect that holds it together is fiercer.

The Auckland Samoa Rugby Football Union is a registered incorporated society. It is governed by its elected officers and run for the benefit of its member villages and the communities they represent.
Decisions are made with the villages in mind, guided by Samoan values of service, respect and collective responsibility.

The union takes a proactive role in the welfare and safeguarding of everyone in the game, with particular care for the protection of match officials. Referees keep the league running, and the union backs them.
Clear expectations are set for clubs, players and supporters before each season. Where a concern is raised, the union responds promptly and follows its safeguarding process, working with clubs and the appropriate authorities to keep the game safe for all.
