The season was not finished when the fifteens finals wrapped. The union switched codes for the Auckland Samoa 7s, a fast, high-energy sevens tournament held in Mangere, and built the weekend into a full community day out by running it alongside the Le Jungle Markets.
Sevens has a flavour all its own: quick, open, end-to-end rugby that rewards flair and fitness. Pairing it with the Le Jungle Markets meant there was something for the whole aiga, on and off the field, from the rugby to the food and the stalls.
Like everything the union runs, the 7s was made possible by its partners and supporters, with Digicel and Eveni Pacific alongside Auckland Rugby Referees, the Pacific Business Hub and others backing the day. It is Pacific business and community coming together to put on an event the whole region can enjoy.
It was the perfect way to close out the season: one more weekend of village rugby, one more gathering of the community. Tautua mo Sāmoa.
